There are two main types of addictions - Physical Addiction and Behavioral Addiction.
What are Physical Addictions?
Physical Addictions are more commonly known as substance abuse such as Heroin, Tobacco, Alcohol, Cocaine, Inhalants, Marijuana, Stimulants, Painkillers, Sedatives and Benzodiazepines. So smoking, drinking are part of physical addictions.
What are Behavioral Addictions?
As the name implies, certain repeated behaviors can be addictions such as watching pornography, frequent sex with different partners, food addictions with sugar, carbs, processed food, chocolate, coffee/ caffeine, long hours of television and/or gaming, sports, netflix and movies, social media, gambling.
Why do Addictions happen to some people? I believe some are more prone to addictions because of weak will and their minds are easily controlled by external influences such as peer pressure, societal conditionings, broken/ dysfunctional family and childhood traumas, stress from school/ work.
Lisa Renee has defined Addiction as a form of programming to enforce mind control. They are coping and defense mechanisms resulting from soul fragmentations caused by severe unhealed traumas of ancestral issues and inherited genetic miasms that deposit dead energy in the bodies. Addiction programming are intentionally set up for humanity for the purpose of mind control. Such strategies are what she termed as Archontic Deception Behavior.

I have asked my oracle cards of Herbal Healing oracle about using plant medicine to treat addictions. Is it safe to use plant medicines and if plant medicines are also a form of addiction?
The card that flew out when I shuffled came out to be St John's Wort - Illumination.

St John's Wort is named after John the Baptist. This herb can be used to treat depression, anxiety, addictions, PMS, OCD, behavioral and emotional complications. As the guide book interprets, there has to be a balance in using the herb to treat these symptoms.
Ancient Shamans understood about soul fragmentation and the use of plant medicine to treat addictions. Plant medicines can be used to treat addictions but it is important to use the right dosage without overly dependence or overconsumption of it. Anything excessive can be counterproductive and even addictive, no matter whether it is Big Pharma drugs or Plant Medicine. Balance is the key. There are people in the spiritual community who encourages the use of psychedelic drugs and magic mushrooms for astral projection and going into other dimensions and "realities". This can be a form of addiction too if one does not have a strong mind and strong will. Any entity can hijack into their minds to manipulate their narratives.
Any person who drinks alcohol or took drugs are actually disconnecting from the Divine energetically.
When I first started to learn Channeling, I was taught not to drink any alcohol the night prior to doing channeling because it will create a disconnection. I also heard from another miracle healing group that alcohol is prohibited because alcohol is another term called Spirit. Why is alcohol called Spirit? It is opening a portal for other entities. In some sources of articles, alcohol means "body-eating spirit" which extracts the soul essence.
We need to understand that any kind of substance abuse and behavioral addictions are due to escaping and repressing unhealed traumas, soul fragmentation and feeling loneliness. Continuing the addictions will further fragment the soul in neverending spiral. So the key to healing addictions is to understand the emotional and mental root causes that resulted in the addiction, to shift the mind of the addict in changing their habits, thinking patterns and healthier lifestyle and having supportive family and communities. It also requires soul healing and re-integration which is known as Soul Retrieval.
Having addictions is a sign of escaping and avoid facing their inner self. Instead of going within to connect with your true self, people seek for something external to fill in their void.
