Bodhi Tree of Awakening to Emptiness and Oneness

Yesterday I was visiting a Buddhist temple in Singapore located at Bishan, Bright Hill with my family. I have not been there for a long time. Although I am not religious or devoted to rituals, I believe in the philosophies of the Buddha.

As I was walking past the Bodhi tree, my heart was suddenly triggered by its energy. I started to tear and cry without control. I give myself permission to release my tears, my bottled up feelings.

Why was the Buddha able to attain enlightenment while meditating under the Bodhi tree? What is special about the Bodhi tree? Interestingly the leaves of the Bodhi tree is somewhat like a heart shape.

There is a famous verse by a monk called Hui Neng, the 6th Buddhist Patriarch of Zen.

惠能《菩提偈》

菩提本无树，明镜亦非台。 佛性常清净，何处有尘埃！ 身是菩提树，心为明镜台。 明镜本清净，何处染尘埃！ 菩提本无树，明镜亦非台。 本来无一物，何处惹尘埃！ 菩提只向心觅，何劳向外求玄？ 听说依此修行，西方只在目前！

From the start, there is no bodhi tree

Nor stand of a bright mirror.

Buddha nature is ever pure; Since All is Void

Where can there be dust?

It is about having inner peace and detachment from worldly desires and worries. When we have too much attachments, we tend to cling onto toxic thoughts and worries. Our mind becomes clouded and our emotions feels anxious. Our true nature is emptiness. We are not our mind, our emotions, or our body.

Emptiness is Form; Form is Emptiness.

All forms or all manifestations are empty nature. Empty nature means everything is connected to everything.

We form attachments because of the fear of losing. But we are forming an illusion of losing because we are all connected. It is an illusion of separation. We may be separated by the physical body but our consciousness, soul and spirit are always connected. This is also known as Oneness.

So why do we cry when our loved ones left the world? Why do we cry when relationships ended? They are all illusions of separation. Our consciousness are always able to connect to one another whenever we choose to.

To all Divine Feminines who are separated from their Divine Masculines, please know that our souls are always connected with our Divine counterparts. Let go and detach from the desire for union and have faith and trust to allow things to unfold in Divine Timing according to Divine Plan. Let our inner masculine and feminine within unite in peace and harmony first. Our inner balance is more important because it is the Divine Feminine who is really leading the way for healing and union. DFs lead from the heart.
