Healing the Shadow - 12 Shadow Archetypes

Updated: Feb 17, 2023

The shadow self is the part of us that we are unaware of, repressed or denied. How do you identify your shadow self?

1. Watch yourself whenever you react to anything that triggers you. What is the behavior that triggers you?

2. Catch yourself whenever you start to judge somebody. What comes to your mind when you start to judge a person. What are the qualities of the person that you dislike? This reflects the part of you that you deny about yourself.

3. Whenever you play the victim by putting the blame onto another person, this is your shadow self. It is our own responsibility to manage our emotional and mental well-being. When you become aware of patterns of feeling powerless, wallow in self-pity, jealous of others' achievements, limiting yourself, this is the shadow self of victimization.
